Adam tried out for the Parkside Jr. High School 7th grade basketball team this past week. They open the tryout to 6th graders even though it is a 7th grade team. Well, he made the team as an Alternate. He will get to practice with the team, go to games with the team, be part of the the team, but for games he will not dress. There is the potential that he may eventially dress for games, but no guarantees. We left it up to him whether he accepted the offer. It has it's pros and cons. Pros- 5 nights of basketball, learing a coach's plays, being part of something. Cons - no games likely, he cannot be in any other basketball league like at Game Time Gym. He decided he wanted to do it. He knows most of the boys and thinks it will be fun. First offical practice as a Parkside Python is tonight. Oh boy, here we go...
No School today. Parent/Teacher conferences for Unit 5. Went to Emily's. Her teacher said she's doing good. She's ahead of the game with reading. That's good to hear! Adam's school does it a little differently. The student's lead the conferences. Actually, I didn't need to have an individual conference with his teachers, but they had a "coffee" where we could come, go over Adam's portfolio with him, have cookies and cider, talk with the teachers and other kids and parents in an open house style thing. It was nice. Not necessary since Adam is doing well in school, but nice. The Miller's asked about the Bauman's in PA.
This Saturday/Sunday we have a tournament in Fishers, IN. Emily is staying home. She doesn't want to miss a Halloween party she's invited to. The weather is not supposed to be good where we are, so it's best she's not going for her and us :)
